FOUR FRAKKIN' MONTHS

Wow, I've left you guys for four months. I'm sorry, I have no excuse. Okay, I do have an excuse, I've been lazy. But now, we've reach the end of an error. An end to one of the best sci-fi shows in television history, Dollhouse. Haha, just joking. I mean, that did end but it wasn't good. I mean, I guess it wasn't good, I didn't watch it. I read the script for the first episode and wanted to beat the main character. And since beating women is something I try not to do, unless they really deserve it, I decided not to watch. I'm talking about Lost, a show that has no problem beating women.

This poster freaks me out a bit.

So I'm making a surprise comeback to write to you about the last season of this landmark sci-fi series. I'll get to that in a bit. In exact contrast to Lost is Heroes. Now I would beat someone if they made me watch this again. You know for awhile I was having a true love/hate relationship with this show. Things have changed. Now I just hate it and I wonder when someone's going to take it out back, shoot it in the head and bury it in the garden. I'd volunteer to do it but I have a slight conflict of interest. Shhh.

AM I THE ONLY ONE NOT LOST?

Say what?

Don't get me wrong here, Lost is amazing. I love this show, and I love where it's going, and I love the actors (see above), but am I the only one who's not "lost"? Ever since the episode that revealed Kate had Aaron in the future, I haven't been surprised. Am I just a genius? Has years of 24, BSG, Lost and The Amazing Race prepared my brain for this shite?

Here's what I knew before it happened which I thought was fairly obvious. And trust me, I'm not tooting my own horn, I'm wondering why I'm not writing this and getting paid the big bucks.

1) Aaron- In this episode Kate's revealed as another member of the Oceanic 6, along with Hurley, Jack and Sayid. She's tried for murdering her step-father who liked to beat on women. Jack comes in to defend her and we learn that the story they told everyone once they were rescued wasn't entirely accurate. Kate's mother learns Kate saved the other 5 survivors (supposedly) all on her own, because a doctor and former military heavyweight don't compare to a runaway, and decides not to testify against her. Jack admits that he did love Kate at one time, but doesn't any more. But then he sorta takes it back and wants her to come hang out. Through the episode she's talking about "her son" but never mentions his name. At the end of last season, in the first of the amazing flash forwards, she also talked about "him" who I just assumed (hoped) was Sawyer. Halfway through this episode though I knew the kid was going to be Aaron. Too much of Claire and talking about Aaron. At the end, when she said his name and the music swelled, this was my first clue that I was maybe smarter then the writers, or at least as smart. This is not saying anything against you if it took you everything but a brick across your head to realize it. I'm just sayin'.

2) Ben and Juliet- No shite. Was it a big revelation that Ben is in love with Juliet? We knew this from the first episode the Others were ever in when the plane crashed and there was a moment between the two, which we learned this episode was all about Ben sending Goodwin to his eventual death. Ben's an ass. And I'm sorry, Goodwin was hot, of course Juliet would prefer him. But Juliet, that slut. Eh.

No reason for this pic other then it's sorta bad ass

3) Michael- Again with the swelling music. Michael is Ben's man on a boat. Is this really news? Did someone out there NOT know that? If you didn't, shame on you for being dumb. Seriously. Let's get past the fact that his name is still in the credits so he has to show up. Let's also get past the idea that we'd have to know who the guy was in order for it to be dramatic, and let's also get past the fact that obviously Michael would help Sayid. I love how after Michael tells Sayid how he got to be on the boat Sayid turned him in. WTF Sayid?

4) Jin is dead (?)- Did anyone really think Jin was in the same time/place as Sun was? Let's see what the evidence is. The biggest one being, with Hurley, Jack, Kate, Aaron and Sayid, Sun makes up the last of the Oceanic 6. Also, did you see Jin's phone during this episode? Hello 2003. Plus it was played up way too much with them never being together, him calling, the Panda. Now, I didn't catch the "year of the snake" or whatever line that was the clerk told Jin that put the year not in whatever year Sun was in, but even without that, about 15 minutes in I knew he wasn't there. Did anyone else see the headstone at Jin's grave? Says he died the day the plane crashed. We know that didn't happen so is he still alive. HELLS YEAH he's still alive. He just got interesting! And do you think the timeline is working backwards? The flash forwards I mean. If you remember Kate's, Aaron looked like he was at least 2 years old. He's about 3 months now, although he looks 6. So that's 18 months. Sun has NOT been pregnant for 18 months. What gives?

But like I said, overall the show is damn good. I don't mind that I figured a lot of stuff out. Sayid working for Ben, what's up with that? And he's not just bringing him food or something, he's killing people for him. Somebody knows what's up though because they tried to kill him too. My thinking is he's trying to pay off some debt or pay off the debt of the people on the island to get them off. Some people think Ben is the good guy in all of this. I would believe that if he wasn't EVIL! Nothing he could do would justify the evilness. Someone pointed out that if he was truly good he would have just told everyone the deal from the beginning. But this is a TV show and they got a lot of mileage out of the "Others" storyline, so I guess after all that he could be good.

Now there are other "Others". I've heard them called Freighties. I guess that makes sense, so I will steal that. If the person who came up with that is reading this, thanks. Desmond and Sayid made their way to the freighter to not only be met by Michael but poor Desmond went through the oddest, and best episode so far, with this flash backs (forwards?). What Desmond do we have now? Is he our Dessie or still the one from back in the day? He and Penny's love story is probably the single most interesting thing on the show. I am so glad they're finally using him again. After his episode last season where he was being thrown around time, again, I've held out hope that he is going to be the key for everything. Please writers, make him the key, the actor is wonderful, the character is great, and he's having REAL sci-fi experiences, not that dumbass black smoke crap.

It's not Penny's ship. After Charlie idiotically killed himself (instead of swimming out of the hole) to tell Desmond it wasn't Penny's boat, everyone has been wondering who the hell owns that boat. Penny's daddy owns that boat. He's also the one, according to Ben, who faked everyone from Oceanic 815's death. Okay. He wants the island. My fear with this show, kinda like Pirates of the Caribbean 3, that there will be so much information we've gotten over the last 4 or so years that things won't be answered, and if they are, they will be in some dumb throw away line. Oh, that black smoke, it was an engine fire.

So Penny's dad sent Desmond on this boating expedition around the world just to get him stuck on the island (to put the numbers in for 3 years?) just so Penny would be heartbroken enough to want to find him and he would find the island? That's a theory I've heard. But we know PD knows about the island from various sources, including one of Ben's subordinates that PD found and he could have tortured to tell him where the island was. I mean who knows, obviously PD is a big part of the story. Anyone else catch that painting of a ship PD was buying in Desmond's flash back (forward)? It was the ship that was on the island that they found the dynamite in. You know where Artz blew himself up. Hahaha, so sad.

Someone needs a woman

The Freighties are mean. Sorta. Daniel Faraday, the tortured soul we saw crying for the Losties earlier in the season. When Desmond was having those weird flash backs (forwards?) it was Faraday who figured out he needed a "constant". Of course Desmond's constant was Penny (love it) and when Desmond went to a young (and scruffier) Faraday for advice, he became Faraday's constant. He obviously knows more then he's willing to give up, but after, apparently, thwarting the chemical meltdown a few episodes ago, I kinda like him.

I want to punch that Charlotte bitch in the face though. She annoys me. Just tell them what's going on if you're the good guys. You know they're the good guys, they've been trapped on the island for a few months and just want to go home. Plus, we know Charlotte is down with the Dharma Initiative because she found the Dharma sign when she dug up the polar bear in an earlier ep.

And then there's Miles. He has some supernatural power which, you'd think on this island would be overactive. The only thing overactive about Miles is his greed. He told Ben he wanted a few million to not kill him, and Ben agreed. I think Miles is just one of those people that is all about himself. I don't really care about him, but I want to see him use his powers a bit more to get more information out of people. That'd be cool, kinda like he did with Michael. Sorta.

Kate/Sawyer/Jack/Juliet/Ben? Ew. Let's forget about Ben because Juliet doesn't like him, never will. Kate needs to make up her damn mind. She wants to hang out with Sawyer but then run back to Jack and be jealous of Juliet, and then be hurt in her flash forward that he doesn't love her. I hated girls like this in high school. Always want to have their cake and eat it too. The hottest guys in the school running after her like puppy dogs. I mean, I can't blame her, if I could get it from the both of them I would. And Locke would have to drag my ass out of Sawyer's bed, seriously. And while we're talking about Kate, how dumb do you have to be to turn your back on that biatch Charlotte to get hit over the head. Dumb.

In the last episode Ben told Alex, his "daughter", to go meet up with the other Others (oh right, forgot they were still there). Unfortunately her, her mother and her boyfriend, whats his nuts, were ambushed. Carl, right, was killed, and so was Rousseau. But you can't keep a good woman down, especially one that can fill at least an entire episode with flashbacks, so I wouldn't count her out yet. And Alex was then taken hostage by whoever it was was shooting at her. I'm not convinced it wasn't Ben who sent them into enemy hands. He's like a frakkin' Cylon, he has a plan.

So now we know all the Oceanic 6. I was really hoping Dessie would be one of them, but alas, he's not. I was also hoping Bernard and Rose would be, but they're not. I could give a crap about Claire, she seems real torn up about Charlie, doesn't she? I kinda want Sawyer to live out his days on the island, with Kate and a couple of kids. I mean, that's my fantasy anyway. I hope Daniel is cool, and as much as I hate Ben, I kinda want him to be good by the end as well. And can we please find out wtf happened to get them off the island. My bet is that they traded their freedom for the price of leaving people on the island and now they're either working for the people's release, or they're working on forgetting it even happened. I'm talking to you JACK! But as we know, the island doesn't let you kill yourself or stay away too long. With Sawyer being still trapped there I can only assume the island is the SMARTEST ISLAND EVER.

HOLY CRAP

I usually save my "Holy Crap" for when my one and only love, Jack Bauer, comes into my life, but good God sweet baby Jesus LOST is good. I'm not giving anything away yet, so feel free to continue reading if you haven't seen the episode yet.

I just finished watching tonight's episode and need to go to sleep, but I don't know if I'll be able to. This show is ON IT. Love! Love! Love! This is what I'm talking about. First season all over again. I forgot how much last season blew already and it's only the second episode. Wow.

I'm gonna try and write a recap tomorrow so I can relive the wondefulness.

WTF? WOW! WTF?

Hello again.

LOST is back and better then ever! Well, better then last season at least. They've pretty much stepped out of the box and seem to be perfecting the flash FOWARD. Love it!

When the show starts we get treated to a close up shot of hundreds of mangoes. I love mangoes. Did you know that the skin of mangoes is related to poison oak? Yeah, you shouldn't eat the skins. But try out the fruit it's so yummy. Ok, sorry, back to the show. So there is this close up of mangoes and I'm thinking, "Damn, a show that doesn't start in a flashback. Wait, this is a trick, it's going to be a flashback ." I was right.

Suddenly a car bursts through the mangoes and there's a high speed chase. It's a nice car that's being chased and it's being followed on the TV as well, and Jack, looking kinda the hotness again, is watching. They stop the car and the person I figured gets out, Hurley. The cops start to arrest him and he's screaming that he's part of the "Oceanic 6". I get a little side tracked here because it reminds me of the Jena 6 and I think that's sorta inappropriate. But then I'm sucked right back in when I think about who else he could be talking about.

Then we're back on the island and pick up right where we left off. Seriously, time is so slow here, these people are still living in the time before the Sox won the World Series. Crap like that I don't really care about, I mean, the World Series, but to think that it's only been months for them and it's been YEARS for us is a little irritating.

Anyway, Naomi is lying with the knife in her back, Ben looks like crap because Jack just beat the crap out of him (months ago, but only recently) and Jack is holding the satellite phone that's telling them they're being rescued. Everything is great. After Jack gets the confirmation that people are coming to rescue them they realize Locke is gone. Jack tells Kate that the next time he sees him he's going to kill him. I'm wondering why he's so angry at Locke, all he did was kill that chick. Then I remember in LOST world, Locke just blew up the sub Jack was trying to go home and leave everybody on, like yesterday. Riiigghhttt. Ben also pulls Rousseau aside and tells her to take Alex as far away as possible because he doesn't want his "daughter" to be around. Rousseau gives him a quick punch in the face and he shuts up.

Oh wait.

Hurley and the gang at the beach learn they're about to be rescued and Hurley does a cannon ball into the water. Fat people happy, that's nice. His happiness is soon thwarted. Oh, I like that word. Desmond, who is looking pretty damn hot to me all the sudden, comes back ashore and alarms everyone that the boat coming to get them is not Penny's boat, as they were led to believe. Remember we know this because Charlie sacrificed himself for no good reason to write the note on his hand that the boat wasn't Penny's. And this brings us to the moment when Hurley finds out Charlie's dead. He's pretty broken up.

The beach group, which includes Sawyer, 'ello poppin', realizes they can't call to Jack's group on the walkies because the bad people may be intercepting the radios, so they'll have to hike up and meet them and let them know these people aren't who they say they are in person.

We go back, forward, sideways, whatever to Hurley after his arrest for running into mangoes. Nobody messes with mangoes in Los Angeles, NOBODY! The detective tells Hurley that he knew someone on Oceanic 815, Ana Lucia Cortez. We all know what happened to her. She got busted for drunk driving and then got fired. And we all know that this world is too frakkin' small. Really? Out of the ten million people in Los Angeles Hurley gets the one cop that used to be her partner? Anyway, overlooking that, Hurley doesn't want to talk about why he went on a rampage. The cop shows Hurley a video from right before the high speed chase. It's Hurley in a 7-11 or something and he sees something off camera and runs out of the place, freaked out. Hurley's not talking so the guy leaves. While the guy is gone Hurley gets a vision (?) of the double mirror turning into a fish tank and Charlie (!!!) is swimming towards him. Then the glass bursts and water starts pouring in. He yells and the cop comes back in. Of course everything is normal and the cops asks, "Are ya stupid or somethin'?" And Hurley replies, "Stupid is as stupid does, sir". So they throw him in the looney bin.

Up with Jack, the people from the boat radio asking to speak with Naomi. You know, their friend with the knife in her back? Jack looks around and sees Ben strapped to a tree, but Naomi's body's not where they left it. Ben gives Jack a "You're f*cked" look and Jack lies and says that Naomi went to get some fire wood, and bacitracin. Rousseau tells them she found a trail and Kate says there are actually two and she thinks one of them could be a dummy trail. Jack rightly tells Kate that this poor innocent woman who was attacked by Locke wouldn't think to do that, she's hurt. Silly Kate.

The group decides to all head back down to the beach and as they go, Kate hugs Jack and wishes him luck on finding Naomi. Ben again is staring at them like freakin' Willy Wonka. In the updated Willy Wonka that Johnny Depp did where he's all weird and creepy, not the old one with Gene Wilder. Awe. They all leave and Jack, Rousseau and her new little leashed pet Ben, all go looking for Naomi.

It's night time by now and the beach group is slowly making their way in the jungle. How do they know they're not going to pass the other group on their way up? It's not like there are paths carved out, right? Anyway, Sawyer is being really sweet, and really hot, and asking Hurley if he's okay, ya know, since his best friend just died. Hurley tries to down play it and Sawyer tells him that they'll wait up for him if he wants and Hurley says no, that he'll keep up. Is it wrong that I like Sawyer more when he's making fun of people and glaring. Hotness.

So Hurley gets left behind. We knew this was going to happen, didn't we? He runs to catch up but can't find the guys ahead of him. Instead, he comes up to THE CABIN. You know, the creepiest freakin' cabin known to man that Ben took Locke last season? Seriously, this cabin is freakin' creepy. So Hurley hears whispering and sees a light in THE CABIN and starts for it. He gets up on the porch and looks through the window. Let me just interject here. It was about 1am last Friday night that I was watching this and I was scared shiteless. The only thing more scary then a creepy ass cabin in the jungle is looking through a window at night in a creepy ass cabin.

Hurley sees someone in the room, much in the same way Locke saw "Jacob" last season. The person is rocking in a rocker. Seriously, can the person's face just melt off now and the scary factor will officially hit ten and I'll officially shite my pants. Apparently the producers knew I'd just need a small boost to do so, because then someone pokes their head right in front of Hurley, looking at him through a small hole in the window. Sweet Jesus. This (of course) freaks Hurley out and he goes running. He runs away from THE CABIN, but it doesn't work, everywhere he tries to go THE CABIN is still there. Like herpes, you can't get away from it. Finally, totally freaked out, Hurley falls into a small hole. When he looks up Locke is there. Locke helps him up and they say hey, and then Locke tells Hurley they have to find the others so they can't tell them it wasn't Penny's boat. Did I miss something? How does Locke know that? Did Walt tell him at the end of the last season? If so, shouldn't we have seen that in the recap? I'm confused, but I don't care, it's good!

"Hi, I've come to f*ck with you."

We flash FORWARD and it's Hurley again, this time he's happily playing Connect Four with one of the crazy people at the looney bin. I loved that game! Messy, but I liked it. Someone comes over to Hurley and they tell him he has a visitor. When he goes to meet with him the man tells him he's from Oceanic Airlines and wants to know if Hurley wants and upgrade to a better looney bin, where he can see the ocean from the barred windows. Is this guy slow or something. Hurley doesn't like the idea, and doesn't like this guy, he thinks something's up. He's right to think that because then the guy gets all serious and ask Hurley, "Are they still alive?". Whoa whoa whoa. I am totally getting creeped out now. I love it. Hurley flips out and starts yelling to get this guy away from him. When he turns the guy has gone. Vanished? No, I saw the door close behind him.

We're still in Hurley's flash FORWARD and he's sitting outside of the looney bin. Another patient comes up to him and says some guy is staring at him. When he looks up it's CHARLIE. And can I tell you, the hobbit is looking pretty nice. I mean, he's still, you know, a hobbit, but regardless, he's this close to being hot. No no, not THE HOTNESS, just hot. He wants to know why Hurley ran from him when he saw him in the convenience store. I don't know dude, because you're dead. Actually, I'm quite sure Hurley said almost those exact same words. Charlie tells Hurley that there's something he has to do. Hurley doesn't want to hear this and closes his eyes, willing Charlie to leave. Ya know, last season I would have done the same thing, but like I said, Charlie is lookin' kinda good. When Hurley opens his eyes Charlie is gone. So is the patient who also saw Charlie crazy? I mean, I know that's a rhetorical question given where he is and all, but funny he saw him too.

Back on the island Jack, Rousseau and Ben are still hot on Naomi's trail. Or so they think. The trail stops. Jack gets concerned, realizing Kate could have been right, that there were two trails. Of course, this doesn't send up any red flags as to why Naomi would do that, but what does is the fact that the sat phone is gone. Ben tells Jack that when Kate hugged him she took it. SUCKER! Over to Kate, she's following the trail as well and the sat phone rings. The guy on the other end asks to speak to Naomi. Not wanting to get the boat turned around on them, she hangs up. Just then she feels blood dripping on her and when she looks up Naomi tackles her. She holds a knife to her throat and tells her to give her the phone. Kate tries to explain that Locke is a nutjob and his opinions aren't shared by the rest of the group. The phone rings again and Naomi answers. The dude on the other end is pissed. She tells him to calm down, that she got hurt diving in and the people were nervous about telling them that so they lied. She reprograms the phone so they can track them, tells the guy on the other end to tell her sister she loves her, and then dies. I wish I cared.

Just then the tower group and the beach group meet up at the hull of the plane in a clearing. Locke and Hurley show up as well and everyone points the gun at him. He says maybe now Jack will believe him. They lower their guns. Everyone is reunited. Everyone except for Claire and Charlie. Hurley breaks it to her that he drowned and they comfort each other. About then Jack sees Locke. He throws himself at him and starts beating the crap out of him. Jack needs some anger management classes. Jack gets Locke's gun away from him and Locke gives a speech about how he's not going to shoot him, blah blah, and Jack pulls the trigger! Luckily it's not loaded, but Locke realizes that maybe Jack isn't the big pus we all thought he was. Locke tries to explain that he's just trying to help everybody.

Just then Kate comes back and tells them that Naomi is dead. For real this time. She says the boat's coming to get them. Locke says that these people aren't who they say they are and that they need to be as far away from them as they can. It's the whole, "Come with me if you want to live" line. He says they can go to where the Others used to live and turn on that bad ass security system to protect themselves. Personally I think this is a great idea. Jack blows him off but Hurley says that the last thing Charlie did was warn him about the people coming, so he's going to listen to his friend and go with Locke. Claire also goes. Bernard and Rose (awe) talk about it, but decide to stay with Jack, although that means Rose's cancer will come back. Rousseau, Alex and her boyfriend go as well. Sawyer of course decides to go with Locke and Kate's like, "Wait up, I wanted to take a shower on that boat and then have clean sex with you." Sawyer's like, dude, you're not getting on that boat. Ben asks Jack if he can go with Locke and he's like fine, bye. They all take off, telling them they know where to find them if they need them.

Back in the looney bin Hurley is playing basketball by himself. Jack shows up and is all nice. Hurley says he knows he's there just to make sure he didn't talk. Hurley's right, Jack asks him if he did and Hurley says no. Hurley says that he should have gone with Jack and he's sorry he didn't. Jack just nods like, "told ya so". He then tries to make it light and say that he's going to just relax and maybe grow a beard (must be the flash FOWARD we saw at the season finale!). Hurley warns that "IT" wants them back and Jack says that they're never going back and leaves.
On the island Jack and Kate are heading back to the beach when they hear a helicopter. They see someone parachute out and run to him. He takes off his helmet and looks at them both asking if he's Jack. Bam! End.

So here are my questions, I mean, just a few of them. Who all came back from the island? We know it's Jack, Hurley, and Kate. Also, whoever it was who died in the season finale and Jack went to see at the funeral home. And how did Hurley get back with Jack and Kate to leave the island with them? Maybe the people who left the island are the same that were on that list Michael was given to bring back, Jack, Hurley, and Kate. So could Sawyer have come back too? And who are the other two? Michael and Walt? Oh, and who the hell was that in the rocking chair in THE CABIN. I know exactly who it was, and this is not contested. It was Jack's father Christian. I've seen stills from it and it's definitely him. Plus, the actor was listed in the credits and never showed up except in that moment.

If you haven't already, check out the webisodes and you get a few more clues, including Jack's dad, and you see Jin go apeshite. Classic.

LOST RETURNS

In two short weeks (Thursday January 31st) a major event will be happening. Lost will finally return after nearly nine months. I could have had a Lost baby by now. Of course, this won't compare to my time away from my darling Jack Bauer which hopefully won't be too much longer. My heart aches just thinking about my Jack.

Anyway, on to another Jack. I've seen a bunch of promos for the new season and there's even a video diary of one of the castaways' boyfriend, who wasn't on the flight but is looking into what could have happened. Kinda like Penny maybe, but not as interesting. I'm not sure I want to watch it, the boyfriend's diary I mean. I don't know why. This whole them getting rescued thing has me feeling a little woozy. Not that I think they're getting rescued, and not that I wanted them to be hopeless the whole series, but still, I'm not good with change.

One of two things will happen. With the death of Charlie (yawn), Locke going AWOL, the people coming to rescue them and Jack's end of the season flash FORWARD, it will either be so amazing I'm going to strip off all my clothes and run down Hollywood Blvd. yelling at the top of my lungs how much I love the show or I'll shoot myself in the foot and demand they send me to a hospital without a television because I'll be so depressed it went so wrong.

Maybe I'll settle for something in the middle. But like all blind dates (at least the ones I've had) what will probably happen is I'll get all excited about it and then when it actually happens I'll be let down and then have to pay for dinner. Let's hope not.

I KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO THINK I'M CRAZY

VS.

I know this may sound strange, but I have to admit it. And you may say, "tvgrrrl, you're crazy", to which I would say to kiss my butt, this is my blog and I'm going to tell you how I feel. Anyway, here I go, are you ready? I think Jericho is better then Lost. Okay, I said it.

I've told you guys about Jericho a few times, and I don't know if it's made a difference in your viewing, but so far this season of Lost, I'm not excited. Yeah, yeah, it was cool to see the plane crash from the side of the "Others" and Juliet's back story was pretty good, but I'm tired.

I'm tired of wanting more and not getting it. Oh, we found out what Jack's tattoos mean (one of them at least) and Desmond can see the future. Charlie's set to die, whoopee. That's great and all, but the Desmond thing, even after he explained it to Charlie, didn't make any sense. If he went back in time when he turned the key in the hatch, then how does he know about things that are going on, after the hatch? If he time traveled back, wouldn't it be from that point and before. How does he know about Charlie? Can he see the future too? He didn't express that to Charlie. So which one is it? Did he time travel or can he see the future or both. I mean, I know it's supposed to still be weird, and bizarre, and Lords of Kobol help me, but it's just not enough. I feel like a blasphemer. Forever Lost was my favorite show because with all the questions, I felt like there was an end, and that I would get satisfaction. Yeah, there'd be new questions, but that was the fun of it.

And then, this past week, the episode was advertised as "shocking" and that we had to watch it because everyone would be talking about it on Thursday morning. SIDE NOTE: Did anyone notice that the name of the episode was "Tricia Tanaka is Dead"? Isn't Tricia Tanaka the "Asian Reporter" from Family Guy? That's funny. So anyway, the whole episode I was waiting for the big reveal. You know, the one that I'd be talking about for days. Hurley rebuilt a car with Sawyer, Jin and Charlie. Charlie's still marked for death, and Cheech Marin plays Hurley's dad. Okay, so is one of them going to die? Is Charlie's time finally up? No.

Sawyer and Kate's return to camp was alright, but hello, why haven't they had a real conversation about what happened between them. They start to, but they use too much innuendo, and I got confused. Yes, me, who can decode anything, especially Sawyer speak. I think Kate gave Sawyer an out, but then it seemed Sawyer said he didn't want an out, but maybe that meant he did. Dear Lord, I have no idea. And where the hell are Michael and Walt? And what's up with Desmond's girl, Penny, who discovered the electromagnetic blip, AT THE END OF LAST SEASON?????

And then, Kate goes back into the jungle to find a way to go back and get Jack. Sayid and Locke follow her to help her out and we realize she's looking for Rousseau. She finds her and tells her that she needs to help her because she thinks the girl, Alex, who helped them escape is her daughter. That's the big reveal? Are you serious?!?! That's what we'd be talking about the next day? I figured that crap out last season when Claire was kidnapped. I am so irritated with them because of that. So ridiculous. Now, this coming week's episode looks like it might be good, but that's what it seemed like last week. When the show works, it works, very well. But when it doesn't work, it blows.

You know what is working? Jericho. I've always liked this show. The first show wasn't perfect, but I stuck with it because seriously, have you seen Skeet Ulrich? Anyway, it's just been getting better and better. This weekend I watched the latest episode, the second of the second half of the season (you still with me?) and it was so good!

I've always talked about how much I like the idea of what would people do if there was a Apocalypse type event. Well, this show delivers on so many levels. First, two weeks ago, we saw what happened the 48 hours before the bombs were dropped, which was perfect. Hawkins was driving one of the trucks that had a bomb in it (!!!), but didn't deliver the "package" because he saved his family instead. His girlfriend disappeared and he was threatened about something by the people who took her and they threatened to kill her and he left regardless. Jake was living in Mexico or something with a friend of his that he was in Iraq with, he can fly a plane, and those Ravenwood people who were after them before hiatus, Jake has a history with them. And not some weak history, they were after HIM!

And then in the one I just watched, Hawkin's girlfriend's back and she has plans,. Roger, Emily's fiance's back too, and he saw some crazy things while he wondered for two months. And Heather figures out that she can fix the power problem by building windmills. She goes off with a friend from another town they ran into at a trading post. I'm not sure if this is a good thing, and Jake might have to go rescue her, but that's what I'm talking about. Also, at the trading post we learned that news is coming in, there are six people claiming their the President, so there's probably going to be some type of war. Also, the packages dropped on Jericho from China weren't the only packages dropped, and they were dropped from all over the world. Jake asked the question, if the world is helping, then who exactly is behind this? Hawkins knows.

Seriously. This show is so good! We get real questions, with real answers, we're finding out bits and pieces and it's satisfying. Now, I'm not saying Lost won't redeem itself, I mean, Sawyer may take his shirt off and I may change my mind, but I'm not sure. Stay tuned.

FEBRUARY, REALLY?

Although only about a day has past since the last episode of Lost I recapped, a bunch of stuff happened. Remember the good old Lost days when they'd take us through more then a day. Poor Losties, they're still in 2004. I'm sorry, I digress.

I was sad after the second to last episode before the fall season. Speaking of fall seasons, what the fetch? The next new episode of Lost isn't until February '07. Seriously? I mean, if you're gonna take away Lost, it's a good thing Taye Diggs will be gracing the small screen for that time. I haven't watched Day Break yet, although it's sitting on my desk. I just can't bring myself to betray my Wednesday love yet.

Regardless, Mr. Eko. Let's start by talking about dear, sweet Mr. Eko. He's dead. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have broken it to you like that, figured it should be like ripping a band aid off. I mean, sometimes they're not really dead. Actually, on this show they're really dead. Except maybe for Jack's father. Oh, and Yemi, Eko's brother. We get to see a little background, more about their life in Africa. Eko of course is the protector, wanted to protect his brother, but got stolen by that gang if you remember. After Yemi was killed, Eko tried to come in and run the church. Unfortunately, some mean dudes came in, looking for the shipment of medicine. When Eko didn't want to give it up they killed a lady. Well, when they came back later for it, Eko killed them. Personally, I would have thanked him, but the people in the village were pissed, so Eko went off to take Yemi's place studying in London.

Back on the island, Eko has visions of Yemi that lead him out of the camp. Luckily, Locke and a few others, including the new people, go after him. They're also going to the observation station Eko and Locke found last season to see if they can use the computer there to contact the Others to get their friends back. Oh right, Sayid, Sun and Jin came back and told them their story too. Sayid goes with them to the station. Locke says that Eko's going the same place they are, the plane, that is right at the "?" where the other hatch is.

They eventually run into Eko who's not doing too well, you know since he was attacked by a polar bear and all. He gets to the plane and the body of his brother isn't there. Don't really think he walked away anywhere, but on this island, who knows. Eko wants some time with the plane that doesn't have his brother in it and the rest of the team goes downstairs to the station.

While they're in there Eko has another encounter with Yemi who he follows into a field. Eko figures out that Yemi wants to know if he's sorry for what he's done, you know, chopping people up and what not. Eko says no, that he did what he had to do to survive, and he's doesn't need to repent for it. Then Yemi says that he's not Yemi. Uh oh. At this point, I still hadn't remembered the rumors I heard about them killing off a character. I remembered about the time the black smoke came back and started throwing poor Eko around.

Locke and the others heard the commotion but didn't get up there in time to see what happened. They just found Eko's body. It still didn't sink into me. Not until Locke did the obligatory closing of Eko's eyes. Damnit. I cried. They decided to bury him there, near his brother. Sounded nice, but it was more for the people in the camp. Locke didn't want them to go through another funeral. Personally I'd rather know someone was dead instead of wondering if I'm going to be the next one to disappear. They all wonder what killed Eko and Locke pretends it was an animal. Maybe the polar bear wanted to finish him off. Sayid doesn't buy it and takes Locke aside, who tells him a bit about the smoke monster, but that Sayid doesn't believe that, so whateva. Locke goes back and gets Eko his Jesus stick he was always carving on. Uh oh, tearing up again. He glances at it and realized there's a Bible quote on it. The short of it is "John: North" which I assume Locke will take to mean he has to go North. Clever. RIP Eko, acted amazingly by the man they call Triple A. A side note, the actor wanted only a few episodes and they got him for a bunch of episodes, over two seasons.

Oh, and while they were down in the hatch before Eko died, they didn't get the computer to work, but one of the newbies figured out how to turn the TVs on. Personally I was thinking it the whole time and wondering how Sayid hadn't figured it out, but I guess they needed something for this boring chick to do. They were looking at the TVs, apparently other stations, seeing this is the observation station. Suddenly, they see a man's face at one of them. He sorta looks like Dennis Hopper in Waterworld. I bet that's too obscure for most of you. How about Tigh on Battlestar Galactica (Friday's @ 9 on Sci Fi)? Yeah, still not getting it huh? He basically looks older with a patch covering one of his eyes. Ha, that would suck if it was covering both. Anyway, it's sorta creepy and he must realize the light on the camera just came on and someone is watching because he walks up to the camera and does something to it to make it turn off.

Over with Jack, Saywer, Kate and the others, Jack's been invited to Trixie's funeral. It's very Medieval. They put her on some logs, push her out into the ocean and light her on fire. Jack confronts Ben about that being his x-ray from the episode before. He has spine cancer or a tumor or something like that and Jack's a spine surgeon, how convenient. Back in his cell Ben admits to Jack that they had a plan to break him, and make him trust them and blah blah, so that he'd do the surgery, but since he saw the x-ray, it's kinda moot now. He tells Jack he wants him to want to do the surgery and if he does it, he'll let him go home. His for real home not the island one. Jack refuses, and says that from the x-rays he saw, the person had about another week to live.

Later, Juliet comes in with the television and says she has It's a Wonderful Life or some movie like that for him to watch. Jack says he doesn't want to watch, but she insists on just turning it on anyway. She does and starts talking about why he should do the surgery. Interestingly enough, there's not a movie playing. At least, it's not the one she said. It's her, with some big cue cards, telling Jack some stuff. He reads it as he pretends to listen to her. It says that she and some of the others want Ben dead, and feel this is their only way, that Jack should do the surgery and then fake like there was a problem and let him die. She says that no one will know the difference and that if he does this she'll protect and help him. I don't know if I trust her, and I'm sure Jack's feeling the same way.

In the fall finale episode, it's Kate's flashback. It's actually a pretty good one. We find her the night before she's about to get married, to cutie Firefly guy Nathan Fillion no less. He thinks her name is Monica. She settles into married life with him. Oh, and he's a cop. Not really a good judge of character though I guess. Anyway, she calls the F.B.I. guy that was after her and times the conversation, saying she wants him to stop chasing her. He figures out she's found a guy and says that if she stays put, he'll stop chasing, but that they both know that won't happen, that she can't stay all caged up for too long. He's right. She eventually gets too comfortable and admits to her hubby that she blew her step father up and is a wanted woman. She apologized to him and is torn up about it. Not enough to not drug him, but enough. I think she needs to work out her commitment issues.

On the island, Sawyer's basically given up. He knows there's no way off the island, since they're not on their own island, and Kate's curious about his attitude. The two go to the work site, after Kate begs for them to let Sawyer come. When they're working, Alex shows up, remember her? Anyway, she comes up and starts shooting people with rocks from her sling shot. Very Bart Simpson. Pickett, Trixie's husband and the guy who hates Sawyer, pulls a gun on her. Yeah, because bullet trumps rock. They take her away, but not before she warns Kate that they're going to kill her boyfriend. And by boyfriend I assume they mean Sawyer. Juliet then comes up to Kate and wants her to put a bag over her head. Her own, not Juliet's. Kate doesn't want to do it until Juliet tells her that Pickett is going to kill Sawyer, and she can stop it if she helps her, first by putting the bag over her head. Her own, not Juliet's.

Kate's led into Jack's cell. They act like it's been months, but it's been a little over a week I think. And she did see him a few days before when he went to help Trixie. Anyway, I guess Juliet briefed her on the way over because she begs Jack to do whatever it is they want him to do, that they'll kill Sawyer if he doesn't. He's pissed, thinking she's now on Juliet's side. She eventually leaves and Jack's left to debate what to do.

Back with Sawyer and Kate, she tells him about seeing Jack, and how Pickett's going to kill him, and he's happy Jack doesn't want to do the surgery, even if it means he'll die. Kate's pissed and crawls out of her cage. She says if Jack can't save his life, then he'll save his own life. She busts open his cell and he tells her to stop, that there's nowhere to go since they're on an island the size of Alcatraz. He admits that he didn't tell her because he wanted her to have hope. Seriously, any hotter? No. She must think so too because they start doing it. HOT HOT HOT!

After there (I'm sure) hot love making, Sawyer asks Kate about when she told Pickett she loved him, and if it really was just to get him to stop hitting him. She admits that no, it wasn't, and that she does. Then he tells her he loves her too. I love these two!

In Jack's cell he hears something coming from the supposedly non working intercom. I think it's Alex, but who knows. Whoever it is tells him to try the door. He does and walks around. He finds a gun and then wanders into the observation room. He sees Kate and Sawyer in post coital bliss. Ben shows up and says how surprised he was too when he saw them. Ew, I hope he didn't really "see" them. Gross. Jack then says that he'll do the surgery. I guess knowing Kate's no longer his and that she really cares about Sawyer changes his mind.

So they're in the operating room. Juliet and a few Others are assisting Jack. They put Ben under as Pickett and Zeek watch from the observation room. Once Ben is under, Pickett decides to go kill Sawyer anyway. Oh he's such a douche! He goes out and finds him and Kate together. Sawyer fights back a bit, until the other Other holds a gun to Kate's head. Pickett says he'll kill her too if he doesn't cooperate. Kate's yelling for him to fight and not do it. But they just declared their love to each other, so he can't do it. The other Other holds Kate at gunpoint as Pickett makes Sawyer get on his knees. Sawyer's yelling at Kate to close her eyes and Kate's yelling that she'll do anything he wants. Honestly, I think it's the best scene of the season, shot beautifully, acted beautifully, everything. I'm getting teary eyed and goose bumps just thinking about it now.

At the same time in the operation room, while no one is looking, Jack does something suspicious. The bells start sounding and Juliet and Zeek want to know what's going on. Jack tells them that he's nicked the Liver (or some other vital organ) and that Ben has about an hour before he bleeds out. He wants them to release Kate and Sawyer or Ben dies. I guess we can count Zeek as not on Juliet's team of wanting Ben to die. If there even is a team. Jack demands Zeek radio Pickett. A moment before Pickett pulls the trigger, Zeek radios him and tells him to give the radio to Kate, and gives a quick explanation. Okay, so Pickett's not on Juliet's team either. Kate and Jack talk. He tells her to start running, take the radio and when they're safe, to radio him. He wants her to tell him the story he told her the first day of the crash, when she was stitching him up (*see below). Kate insists that they can't leave without him. He tells her to just go, to run and she just yells that she can't without him. He finally screams "RUN!" and the show ends its fall finale.

Those last 5 minutes totally saved this first half of the season for me. I like it that it didn't end on a huge note, one that I don't want to wait 13 or however many weeks to find out, but enough that my interest will still be there. I have a feeling things will move along bit more, and hopefully they'll give us a few more answers.

*"Well, fear's sort of an odd thing. When I was in residency my first solo procedure was a spinal surgery on a 16 year old kid, a girl. And at the end, after 13 hours, I was closing her up and I, I accidentally ripped her dural sac, shredded the base of the spine where all the nerves come together, membrane as thin as tissue. And so it ripped open and the nerves just spilled out of her like angel hair pasta, spinal fluid flowing out of her and I: and the terror was just so crazy. So real. And I knew I had to deal with it. So I just made a choice. I'd let the fear in, let it take over, let it do its thing, but only for 5 seconds, that's all I was going to give it. So I started to count, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Then it was gone. I went back to work, sewed her up and she was fine."
