Not much has happened since I last told you guys about the show. I mean, stuff's happened, but it's only been about a week days. Marlena and John have disappeared. I've gleaned from the other characters that they've "gone away", which means the actors have gone on hiatus, which is good for them, they've been working non-stop for the past few years.
One couple that really needs to go away is Bo and Hope. Actually, scrap that. I'm really enjoying them not being together. I've always been a Bo and Billie fan and right now, I'm a Hope and Patrick fan, especially since Bo is such a bastard to him. I like Bo, I do, but we need a fresh story with them. And this whole thing with Bo hiding the fact that his daughter Chelsea killed their son Zach, is just perfect. You know what's even more perfect? Hope finding out that she's pregnant. And because this is soap opera land, she didn't know who the father was. Yes, that's right, it's a "who's the daddy" storyline. One of four baby dramas going on right now.
So after a few weeks or so of wondering who the daddy could be, Hope finally got tested and she told the guys that Patrick's the father. I feel like I'm watching Maury Povich. Of course he's happy and Bo's just beside himself not knowing what to do. He says that they can still be together, and he'll love the baby no matter what, but Hope's not interested. She and Patrick have a heart to heart about him being a good father, and how happy he is. At some point during the conversation, Hope gets an odd look on her face. Maybe it was gas. Or maybe, just maybe, she's lying about who the father is. We never heard the doctor tell her the news that led her to believe the baby's Patrick's. And she never said how she knows, she just kept saying that the baby's his. Something tells me there's more to this story. I hope not, I want Patrick to really be the daddy.
Speaking of daddies. Over with Sami/Lucas/Austin/Carrie, she's still pregnant with Lucas' baby. In fact, last week they got married. Yuck. I hate them together. What pisses me off the most about this whole thing is the only reason they're together is she picked him over Austin because of some stupid birth defect/DNA thing. Yeah, Sami made Lexie convince Carrie that if she chose Austin, and they got married and had kids, something would be wrong with the kid. There are so many things wrong with this, starting with the fact that she and Austin were ALREADY married, oh and he and Lucas are half brothers, so the same thing could happen. Regardless, although Austin tried to talk her out of it and get from her exactly why she chose Lucas, she got married. We thought maybe Lexie was gonna stop the wedding, in fact, at Kate's urging she did stop it. But not for long. And why the hell is Kate trying to stop Lucas' wedding? Doesn't she want this kid to be happy?
Yeah, because it's appropriate to whistle in God's house
See, Lexie was pissed at Sami. In fact, a few days before, Lexie and Tek were having their last hurrah before they called their affair quits, and Abe found out. Some mysterious gloved person sent Abe a note and had him meet Lexie at the hotel, only Lexie wasn't alone. Nope, she and Tek were doing it. Abe got pissed and threw Lexie out and dumped her, rightfully so. She thought Sami told him, which makes no sense at all since Sami wouldn't want the truth to come out anymore then she did. She was so pissed at Sami that she wanted to just spill the beans to everyone about what Sami's been doing. I guess she doesn't care about the medical board throwing her out when they hear what she did to Carrie. Not that the medical board means much to her, she sucks as a doctor. Before she could out Sami, she got a call from the mysterious gloved one (not Michael Jackson) and she didn't tell them what Sami had done, much to Sami's amazement.
Also at the wedding, we found out that Caroline had to take in Carrie's wedding dress. For a pregnant woman, things seem to be amiss. In fact, Carrie doesn't look pregnant at all. I thought for sure it was going to be one of those soap pregnancies where one minute they're all skinny, and the next they look pregnant. But then I felt that maybe she wasn't pregnant at all. I have no idea why this would make any difference in the story, she still won't be with Austin because she thinks they'll have some genetically messed up kids. And now that she's marrid to Lucas, they take their vows serious on soaps. Oh, except for when Carrie cheated and then left Austin for Mike. Stupid. I want Sami to be with Lucas and Austin. I don't know how it happened that I suddenly like Sami after all these years, but I do.
"Ah, what a lovely fire you have going, honey"
So the last I left these crazy kids, it was Lucas and Carrie's wedding night, and Carrie had already passed out once from being "hungry". Yeah, because I pass out all of the time when I'm hungry. I'm half passed out right now. Anyway, she and Lucas decided to sleep and they left a candle near the blinds. It caught on fire and as the fire raged, they just slept peaceful, not disturbed at all by the fire in front of their face, and the flames and smoke. Luckily for them, Austin was outside and saw what was going off and rushed in. He just saved Carrie, thanks bro! Sami was in her apartment with EJ. She got a letter from the gloved one and it must have called her out on the thing with Carrie. EJ realized she was upset about something and talked her into reading the note. He didn't judge, but burned the letter. I gleaned from yesterday's show that he doesn't know exactly what she did, just that the gloved one is going to expose her. When they smelled smoke Sami ran in and found Lucas, who EJ came and rescued. Sami started flipping her hair, oh, I mean flipping out, when she thought Lucas was hurt, to which Austin cut her a look. Boy you have no room to talk.
In his fantasies she's still married to Lucas. How messed up.
At the hospital, Carrie and the baby's alright. Interesting. Let's just hope that's not Lexie's diagnosis. While she was "asleep", Austin went into her room and admitted that he still loved her. Of course, unbeknownst to him, she was awake. When Lucas brought Carrie home, she told Austin that she heard what he said. Why is this a big revelation? She know he still loves her.
I'm so board with the whole Jack situation. Okay, so in the hospital he realized that the orderly taking care of him was his long lost brother, Steve aka "Patch". See Steve died a real long time ago, or so we thought. Steve talked Jack to go home to Jennifer, and when DNA proved he was the father, oh sorry, I had a Maury flash again. When DNA proved they were brothers, he wanted to find to exactly what happened to him that he lost his memory so many years ago. Apparently he woke up somewhere with no memory of who he was with just some cash and a wallet with an ID in it. He assumed he was that dude and started a life, eventually becoming an orderly.
In Salem, his long lost wife, Kayla returned, for Jen and Frankie's wedding. And who finally shows up, right as they're pronounced man and wife? You guessed it. Everyone was overjoyed, until they realized he was still dying. And Jack realized he walked in at the worst time possible. He wanted to leave, but Jen, Abby, and Frankie, insisted he come back to the house to live out his final days. Everyone was even more surprised to see Steve. See Jack's done this "I'm really alive" thing a few times, so seeing Steve after fifteen or so years was quite a shock. Especially to Kayla, who passed out, like a good woman. Kayla and everyone tried to catch him up on who he was, but he wasn't too excepting. It was only when his daughter with Kayla, Stephanie returned, that he was able to start wanting this past. More on that later.
Frankie, being a doctor, thinks he found Jack a cure. Oh wait, he's not a doctor, Lexie is. Although he makes a better doctor then she'll ever make. He Googled the mysterious disease Jack has and luckily a friend of his is running a trial, and agreed to let Jack in. Screw proper funding and grants and making sure the results were within parameters. Jack got in and Frankie, even though he's being a great guy, isn't sure how Jen feels about him now that Jack's there, and may live.
I know this isn't the best picture, but you get the idea
Back to Kayla and Steve's daughter, Stephanie. I don't know how I feel about her yet. One good thing is it seems she's coming between Max and Chelsea. Chelsea's a dumb tease and Max is the idiot who follows her around as she flirts and grinds against strangers at clubs, makes out with them, and then he tells her he loves her. What's wrong with him, seriously? Now that Stephanie's here though, something's finally coming between them. Stephanie's a race car driver, which he loves, and she's a little slutty too. I'm not sure yet what I think about the actress. She's not too cute, which I really like because they didn't go for the straight, gorgeous soap girl casting. Then again, she's not too cute, and Max is hot, as well as EJ who she has some sort of past with, and I just can't see them pawing all over her. But kudos to her for workin' it out.
The biggest storyline, at least the one that's holding my interest the most, is with Belle/Phillip/Shawn/Mimi. So poor Mimi can't have kids because she had an abortion years ago. And anything bad that happens to her and Shawn she blames on that. It's getting annoying. Like I said in previous posts, I used to love Shawn and Belle together and was really pulling for them. Now not so much. I've always liked Mimi, even when she hid the abortion from Rex, and now when she's hiding Claire's true paternity from Shawn. I like the girl. Awhile ago she almost broke it off with Shawn for good. She overheard him tell his father Belle was the love of his life. She locked herself in the bedroom and threw her ring at him. Not in that order. Her mother talked her into giving it another try.
She's just as confused as I am
So finally they've decided to use a surrogate. Mimi tried to get pregnant and couldn't, lost the "baby" and so they have this last hope. Also, we found out that Phillip has slow swimmers. Yes, in case you're wondering, Phillips sperm count is low. So what both couples decided to do is invitro. The girls had their eggs harvested together and in the most disturbing male bonding moment I've ever seen on a soap, the guys went to go harvest their sperm together. Now I doubt they were in the same room, at least I don't think they were, but they left together and came back together. Hmmm, interesting. More interesting is the fact that once the eggs and sperm were harvested, the doctor put both of the samples next to each other on trays. So there they were, for nearly a week, hanging out. The syringe with the sperm in it and the petrie dish with the egg. Just hung out in the room together. Let's forget for a second that having these two things next to each other is completely bogus. Let's talk about the fact that they were left out of whatever storing facility they're supposed to be in. Phillip's paying a lot of money for them to go through this procedure, and it's being done by some hack doctor who can't even keep the stuff separated.
Hey, at least he/she is wearing gloves
Now this will confuse you even more. The gloved one came in and switched the top of the petrie dishes so Belle's egg said it was Mimi's, and vice versa. After the eggs were fertilized Belle's with Shawn's, Mimi's with Phillips, it seemed to me the hand switched them again, which would mean that Belle got Phillip and Mimi's baby and the surrogate got Shawn and Belle's. Luckily, one of the nurses bumped in the trays and turned them over, after the implantation. The doctor called both couples in and said there could have been a mix up and they were doing tests. You still with me? Anyway, they did tests and it was proved that both women were implanted with the right egg, Belle has hers, the surrogates has Mimi's. But, they did some miraculous DNA testing on the syringe that was used to implant the women and found out it had the DNA markers of the opposite men. So either the editors are as confused as I am, or the gloved one actually switched it again. Who knows.
Oh look, Regis is on tonight. For two hours!
Mimi is crushed, Phillip's madder then hell, but Shawn and Belle are quite relaxed. This sends up big red flags with their spouses. Phillip's finally realizing Belle may still be in love with Shawn. It only took a few years and a few rooftop meetings for him to figure it out. And Mimi's known all along Belle's after Shawn, even though Shawn swears to her she's his future. As of now, Shawn and Mimi have decided to raise the baby that's technically hers and Phillip's. Phillip on the other hand thinks both women should have abortions. This doesn't sit well with Belle, who wants to have Shawn's baby of course. Phillip is picking up on that and finally questioning her. In fact, he got so mad when she admitted she still cared for Shawn he threw a glass across the room. He also got her to admit that if it was any other person then Shawn's baby she would have terminated it. He stormed out, telling her that it was either him and Claire, or Shawn and the baby. Damn, I'm glad to see him finally growing some balls about this. He got so mad he went to the race track and raced around in the car I guess he owns and at the end of the last show I watched, some sweat dripped into his eye and he lost control of the car.
At the hospital, Shawn talked to his mom about both their situations. He admitted he still loves Belle, that she's his first love, blah blah blah, but he loves Mimi with all of his heart and wouldn't do to her what his father is doing to Hope. And in a true case of hypocrisy, he told Hope that he's glad she's not with his dad, and that maybe she should give it try with Patrick, since she's pregnant with his child. Later at the hospital Belle caught up to Shawn, upset at her fight with Phillip, and admits that she does still care about him.
Coming up on Days...
Will Phillip survive the car accident?... Is Steve married to someone else?... Chelsea has a fight on her hands with Stephanie, for Max. Get her girl.
