YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING: UGLY BETTY

It's hard to invest more time on shows, I know. Trust me, if it wasn't for Tivo I wouldn't be able to watch half the stuff I do. The Tivo definitely comes in handy on Thursdays at 8pm, letting me watch both Ugly Betty and Survivor.

Daniel

Betty's about a girl, Betty, who really isn't that easy on the eyes. She's not ugly, in fact, if she put a little effort into it she could be fine, but she doesn't. She works at a high fashion magazine as the assistant to the editor-in-chief, Daniel, who IS easy on the eyes. His father, owner of the company, didn't want his son fooling around with his assistants anymore, and to take charge of his life, so he hired that not so attractive Betty.

Most of the people on the show, in the office, are snotty a-holes, and Betty gets into trouble a lot, but her boss loves her and she does do a good job. Her family at home is hilarious, including her single mother sister and very gay young nephew. There's also a little mystery involved. A woman who they haven't revealed but are making you think is the old editor-in chief that died in a horrible car crash who Daniel replaced is in the picture. Daniel's rival, the lovely Vanessa Williams, is in cohoots with this mystery lady. It's also been alluded to that Daniel's father orchestrated the crash. I know, very soap opera and intriguing.

Even though the show's an hour, it's a comedy, and even though it's a comedy, it has these dramatic storylines that are great. Again, if you haven't seen it, watch one episode, it's a great show.

YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING: JERICHO

You know that story, the little engine that could? That's how I feel about Jericho, on CBS. When I first saw it I was like, "Yeah, alright, sure" and thought that where it wasn't that great, I would still watch it to see what happened in the second episode. Well, I did that and then got hooked. This is a really good show. Very compelling and for the love of God, can they please find out what the hell is going on?

It's about the people in a small town after a nuclear war (we think) and them trying to figure out what the heck happened. It stars Skeet Ulrich, who I, and many others, always thought about as the poor man's Johnny Depp. Well, that's sorta accurate, but if you are the poor man's Johnny Depp that ain't that bad. He's a good actor and really REALLY easy on the eyes.

There are stories within stories and mysteries that keep me invested every week. What's up with Skeet's old flame's fiancee who they thought was dead but could have survived? How many cities were hit? Who else is alive? And what the hell is the black man doing with the satellite and Internet connection?

If you haven't tried the show, I'd give it a shot, it's worth it.

TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN'

Last night, as I struggled to fall asleep, I kept thinking about random things, one being this blog. I was thinking about how I get backed up on recaps and it totally sucks. Then I thought, hey, this is my blog, I can do what I want to do. So, from now on, I do it my way. Okay, so I was doing it my way before, but now it's going to be a little different.

Sorta like the "Quickies" thing I have set up, I'm going to be writing a review for some episodes, instead of a full recap. Of course I'll talk about things that happened in the show, but for some shows, like Lost, it gets hard to recap because it's so detailed. Plus, I'd rather give my opinion on things anyway. Obviously.
