OVER THE HILL AND THROUGH THE WOODS...

Ah, yeah

Okay, I totally spaced last week and didn't write a recap of the show. Blame it on 24. I had 4 hours to write about people! Get off my back! I don't know how I skipped the second best show on TV though. Last week's episode was a good one too, some interesting stuff happened.

Gepetto and his daughter, Pinocchia

The show starts off with Jack and his father doing a consultation with an Italian patient. He and his daughter are there because he has an inoperable tumor in the back of his neck. Jack's father starts off telling the patient that there's noting he can do. Of course, the patient's not there for the eldest Dr. Shephard, he's there for Jack. Side note: Isn't it odd to have four Dr. Shephards on ABC shows? McDreamy, Addison, Jack and his father. Oh, and McDreamy and Jack are similar surgeons. Umm, interesting. Anyway, the Italians heard about the woman who's spinal cord was crushed and he repaired, allowing her to walk. They want him to perform the same miracle. The old man says he'll give Jack his gorgeous daughter as payment. Jack thinks about it for a minute and agrees to take the case.

On the island Jack wakes up when he hears a bang. He goes into the gun cellar and Locke is having Michael shoot the mayonaise again. Okay, that's not true, Locke's knocked out. Michael is there and is holding a gun to him. He says he's going after Walt. Jack volunteers to go with him but he won't have it. Jack doesn't think Michael will shoot him and of course he's right. Michael does say that he'll shoot the computer though if he doesn't get back into the gun cellar. He locks Jack and Locke in there. Of course all Locke can think about is that damn button. Jack says their only hope now, since the next shift isn't for four hours, is that Sawyer comes to get his bandage changed. Cue Sawyer. Some stuff was said but I wasn't paying attention. Sawyer is just too damn hot. The jist of it is Freckles wants him to go see Jack to get his bandages changed but he debates on going. Eventually they show up and are able to push the button and release Locke and Jack. Jack immediately grabs some weapons and insists that they go out and find Michael.

In Jack's flashback we see that he hasn't operated on Francesco Rinaldi yet. His daughter, Mama Celeste is concerned about Jack's delays. He basically doesn't want to mess this up. She's curious about his wife, and the fact that it's four in the morning and he's at the hospital. Oops. Jack hurries home. His wife is still in bed but gets up when Jack comes in. She acts mildy interested in Versace's condition and gets up to go work out. In passing she says that she missed her last period and took a pregnancy test. She acts like she's giving him good news that she's not pregnant. Jack asks her if she wants to talk about it and she says no.

Locke is in serious need of a shower

In the meantime, Sawyer, Locke and Jack take off to look for Michael. Kate wants to go but Jack doesn't let her. He says that someone has to sit in the hatch. Yeah, like one of the other 40 people can't do it. It's putting in some dumb numbers and putting a button. Have baby Aaron do it. She's a bit peeved, understandably, and sulks off. As they're climbing the mountain Sawyer asks Jack what Kate did to him to piss him off. Jack even confronts Sawyer about him saying he loved her in his delirium but Locke cuts them off before they're able to continue. He asks Sawyer if any of this looks familiar. Sawyer says, "Yeah, that's my favorite leaf. How could I forget this place." Okay, this guy is hot AND funny. They figure out from the position of the ocean that Michael isn't heading back to the other side of the island where they found the Tailies like he assumed. He's actually heading North.

Next we see Kate on the beach talking to Hurley. Sun and Jin wonder what's going on. Hurley tells them that Michael has gone commando. That, I did not have to know. Regardless, Jin wants to go out and help look for Michael, but Sun forbids him to go. Up on the hill Locke realizes that Michael knows where he's going. He also asks Jack what exactly they're going to do when they find him. Jack says that they're going to bring him back. Locke doesn't think this is going to work since Michael beat him up, stole some guns, and locked them in the gun locker. He obviously won't want to go.

Caught!

Back in Jack's office he's with Isabella Rosellini who's about to sign the consent form for her father's surgery. He tells her she doesn't have to go through with it, but she really wants to. They share a quick moment and then his father walks in. After she leaves, his dad warns him about the line it looks like he's going to cross. He's not like his father, and insists he's not crossing anything, except maybe his heart and hope to die, stick a needle in his eye.

By now Locke, Sawyer and Jack are making their way up a steep hill, using vines to climb up. Sawyer's not convinced Locke knows where he's going. Locke is confident though and Sawyer calls him Mr. Clean. Ha, that Sawyer. Locke wonders where Saywer got his name seeing that in the manifest he saw his name was James. Sawyer tries to avoid the question, and they're distracted by gunfire. Like an idiot Jack starts yelling out Michael's name and running towards it. Not really the smartest move. They find shell casings they think are Michael's but since they heard more than the three shots they find, they assume someone else has been shooting at him. Jack questions Sawyer about his reason for being out there, as if it's not for Michael. He wonders if he wants to find these people for payback for shooting him. He doesn't really deny it, but I think Sawyer has many heroic bones in that hot body of his.

Unfortunately, things aren't going so well in Jack's flashback. Abruzzi has died on the operating table. His father comes in to comfort him, although, he's not really good at it. Jack's concerned for his daughter, Donatella, and wants to go tell her. Dear old Dad handled that. Jack's just torn up. Later, he goes to his car and La Vida Dolce is waiting for him. She's torn up about what happened to her father. So torn up that she makes out with Jack. He pushes her away after a minute or two of some good lip smacking and leaves, ashamed.

By now it's nighttime on the island and the guys have gotten themselves some torches. Locke considers turning around and as Jack is making his case to keep looking, Jim Bob interrupts them. This must be one of "The Others". Unlike our crashed crew this guy is not paying attention to personal hygiene. Sawyer recognizes him as the guy who shot him on the raft and goes to aim the gun. Out of nowhere he's shot, luckily just nicked, in the ear. There's obviously someone in the woods watching this. Jack wants to know where Michael is but Jim Bob won't tell him and are convinced they won't find him.

In the hatch Charlie and Hurley are listening to some tunes. Charlie's still upset about Claire. Hurley thinks he's being ridiculous because it's only been a day. Hurley mentions Libby, one of the Tailies. He obviously has a crush on her. Sayid finally makes an appearance and asks where everyone is. Hurley tells him that everyone went to look for Michael, everyone including Kate. Back with Jack and the crew they're still talking to Jim Bob. Jack wants to know where Walt is and he insists that he's fine. He says that Walt is "a very special boy". He wants to know how long they've all been on the island. We learn it's been a shade off of two months, 50 days since the plane crash. Jim Bob wonders if when they go over to a man's house for the first time, if they take off their shoes, eat their food and open doors they're not supposed to. Jim Bob reminds him of that whole, curiosity kills the cat thing. Then in the most frustrating statement in this whole series, this guy has the nerve to lecture them about it being on "their" island and they have no business being on it. Um, hello! Did you not see the plane crash. It's not like they're there by choice. Give them your damn boat and they'll leave, gladly. Sorry this infuriates me, especially since Jack doesn't say that. Jim Bob also says that the only reason they're all still alive is because they let them stay alive. Jack laughs, not believing the old man. He thinks that he has one guy out in the trees, not a whole bunch of people like he thinks. Jim Bob yells, "Light 'em up!" and suddenly torches start to light up all around them, indicating that Jack's wrong, real wrong. Jim Bob tells him that all this is is a misunderstanding, but it can be a whole lot more. He tells Jack to throw down their weapons and turn around and go back. Jack won't do it. Unfortunately, Jim Bob has a little trick up is sleeve. Kate.

You think she had Daddy issues before

She had been following the guys and got caught. Jack, Sawyer and Locke are pissed, especially Sawyer. He warns Jim Bob that if he harmed one hair on her head he'd- I don't know what he'd do, Jim Bob told him to shut up. So now Sawyer is hot, funny, and heroic. Jim Bob says that Jack has to choose, that he can leave, and take Kate with him, or he'll shoot Kate right there in front of them. Of course they choose Kate and throw down their guns. When Sawyer throws his down he says "We ain't done Zeek". Oh, I like that. Zeek. Very Deliverance. Zeek takes the guns and gives Kate back to the guys. Kate apologizes to Jack, but he's pissed.

The next morning Sun and Jin have a little talk. He says that he's not used to being told what to do. She said, "Welcome to my world buddy." Of course she said it in English so he didn't understand, but hey, at least she got it out.

The last part of Jack's flashback he's home with his wife. She asks how the surgery went and he says he died. He notices that someone was over and she says her mom. He feels so guilty about kissing Gabriella (that's her name) that he blurts out that she kissed him. He apologizes to her for kissing her back and wants to work things out. He admits that he hasn't been there for her and wants things to be different. She stops him and says that she's leaving him. Her mom was there earlier to help her pack. Not only that but she has someone on the side. How messed up is that?

G.I. Jack

When they get back to camp Jack is still giving Kate the silent treatment. Sawyer doesn't blame her, saying that if Jack had told him to stay behind he would have gone too. Locke checks on Claire and the baby as Charlie looks on. Jack approaches Ana-Lucia and asks her about killing one of "The Others". She nods and he brings up the fact that she's a cop. She says she was a cop and he asks her how long it would take to train an army. Um, have you seen some of these people buddy? A long damn time.
