GNOME, THE G IS SILENT

Last episode we learned that the race wasn't over and everyone was still in it. This leg is truly a see saw. One minute I think (hope) it's the girls, the next minute I think it's Dave and Lori, or Wanda and Desiree. I mean, no 24 by any means, but my stomach was in knots as I watched.

In Red Square, Eric and Jeremy are handed the clue by Phil and told the leg isn't over. They have to fly themselves (I'm assuming on a plane) to Frankfurt, Germany and then travel by train to the town where the Mercedes-Benz manufacturer is. Lake and Michelle are next to reach Phil and Michelle comments that running through Red Square is something no other person they know could say they did. This tells me a two things, one, that their friends probably don't like them either, and two, their friends are boring.

Everyone who did the doll detour makes it to Phil and are given their next clue. The four teams that are washing the trolleys, MoJo, Dave and Lori, Dani and Danielle, and Wanda and Desiree think they're fighting to not get kicked off. It's Dave and Lori who aren't able to keep up in a foot race with MoJo that make it to the mat last. They're elated to learn the race is still on and head off to the airport with the others.

Eric and Jeremy get to the airport and are able to get on the flight that leaves for Germany, immediately. Lake and Michelle get there a few minutes later and are bummed (but I'm happy) that they didn't make that same flight, they get one two hours later. Eric and Jeremy have a major lead on the rest of the group.

The remaining teams, besides Lake and Michelle, are waiting in line for the ticket counter to open. There are two different windows. Ray and Yolanda are at one and BJ and Tyler are at another one. BJ and Tyler catch a break when their window opens first and they get their ticket. The other six teams are forced to sleep in the airport and wait until the flight in the morning.

Zoom Zoom

When Eric and Jeremy get to Germany they head to the Mercedes-Benz factory by train, only to discover the place doesn't open until 8:30am. They seem to be surprised, but I'm not. That means they'll be a scant hour or so ahead of the teams instead of having a five or six hour lead on the bottom six teams. BJ & Tyler and Lake and Michelle make it to the factory before it opens and the three teams go in. Each team has to pick a car and the driver takes them around the Mercedes track at break neck speeds. Afterwards, their clue tells them to drive 200 miles to the city of Bad Tolz to get their next clue. They're off.

"Hi, we were thinking about going to McDonald's for a burger, it's right over there."

The six remaining teams finally show up and one by one head off to the Mercedes factory. After they drive the course and hop in their car, Wanda and Desiree and Danielle and Dani decide to work together. Unfortunately, working together doesn't work out. I thought it would be Dani and Danielle who mess this up but it's Wanda and Desiree. They have no sense of direction and drive around in circles. They probably lose a lot of time, at least half an hour it looks like. I don't know why Dani and Danielle just follow them like little puppies. Wait, I do know, they're morons.
I love BJ or Tyler

Eric and Jeremy find the clue on the side of the road in Bad Tolz. It's a Roadblock. It's damn Gnomes. The Travelocity Roaming Gnomes to be exact. One team member has to search the ground for the right hat or boot. Underneath the seemingly buried gnome they have to find the ones that have the actual gnome inside. Eric or Jeremy, I don't know which is which, they're both tools, find the gnome and get the next clue to head to Bavaria Film in Griswald, ha, I mean Grunwald. They have to carry the gnome to the Pit Stop. Right as the guys leave, BJ and Tyler pull up, as well as Lake and Michelle. They all find the gnome and move on.

I wonder how many girls have done that to him in bars over the years

When they get to the destination it's a Detour. They have to either Break It or Slap It. In Break It they have hundreds of breakable wine bottles to smash over each others heads. After it breaks they have to find the bottle with the label that says "prost" on the inside. Apparently that means "cheers" in German. They can't do this one as fast as it seems because they have to wait until the cuckoo clock chimes. They don't say how long that is but I'm thinking it's thirty seconds. to a minute. The other one, Slap It, is a dance that's quite reminiscent of National Lampoons European Vacation. It's a German folk dance. Both members have to learn it and dance it and once they complete it to the leader's satisfaction, they can get their clue.

Eric and Jeremy choose to Break It and begin smashing each others heads with the bottles. The best part is they have to wear lederhosen. Hot. Of course there's a German woman standing on the side that they flirt with. Even though they're both douches, they are sorta funny. It is fun, and then it gets old when they have to keep doing it. Lake and Michelle and BJ and Tyler show up and get into their lederhosen as well. Eric and Jeremy find the label and get their clue. They have to drive 10 miles to Siegestor to the next Pit Stop. Lake and Michelle and BJ and Tyler finish as well.

Finally, people from the other flight start arriving, can't be too much behind Lake and Michelle and BJ and Tyler. Fran and Barry are the first and decide to do the dancing. They're actually not bad and head out fairly quickly. Eric and Jeremy arrive at the Pit Stop first and learn they've won an African safari. BJ and Tyler are next, followed by Lake and Michelle. Surprisingly, Fran and Barry make it there in fourth place. I'm getting more and more impressed with these two.

Phil and the Gnome and the gnome

Back at the studio, all of the dating couples show up, MoJo, Dave and Lori and Ray and Yolanda. They all start doing Break It. Dave and Lori find the clue quickly but MoJo decides to switch and do the dancing one. They get through it and head off to the Pit Stop. Taking their cue from Mojo, Ray and Yolanda do the dancing as well and are able to master it and leave.

So the battle for eighth place begins. It's between Dani and Danielle and Wanda and Desiree. There's no question who I want to leave. I can't stand the "Double Ds". Wanda and Desiree have gotten on my nerves a bit, but they're just stressed out from being lower in the pack. The two teams make it to Bad Tolz and start looking for the gnome. Desiree's not really trying and within minutes it seems, Dani finds the gnome and the girls leave. Desiree gets frustrated and starts crying. Finally she finds it and they head to the Roadblock.

"This is so much harder then at G-Spot on Saturdays"

Dani and Danielle don't waste any time at the Roadblock breaking bottles, they go right for the dance. Since on the weekends they like dancing in Go Go cages, they learn it fast and as they're leaving pass Wanda and Desiree. You can tell Desiree has no fire in her anymore and has basically given up. Once they finish the dance they solemnly meet Phil at the mat, who tells them they're last and they're off the race. Can't say I'm devastated, but I do wish it was those bimbos.
